livin' the life...livin' the dream

Earlier this afternoon I stopped by the David Lawrence computer lab to print a few things and was most pleased to see that TallE was working. The lab was relatively busy, and there was a small crowd gathered around the print-out table. However, the number of lab users was enough to keep TallE occupied and therefore not free for social interaction. I decided that drastic measures needed to be taken in order to be noticed, so I kicked a wire loose from some printer station thing*. This caused an alarm to go off, distracting most people in the lab and making TallE go over to some magic box to turn it off. It was all worth it when TallE came over to where I was standing to repair the wire and I got to look into his beautiful eyes as he said "Susan, did you do this to get my attention?" Did it work?

*note..this was actually an accident

(This post is dedicated to TallE. My inspiration.)

During The Price Is Right today, they surprisingly played a commercial from the Scooter Store. Well, this isn't really surprising, but today I actually watched the commercial and you will not believe what I saw. In the beginning of the commercial, when the man in standing in front of the cubicles talking to the viewers, if you look to the left of him, right over his shoulder, I'm pretty sure there is a disc hanging on the wall of the cubicle right above the shelf with all of the files on it. Look for it.

the scene: i'm in the kitchen, opening a can of soup. susan and genny are in the living room, playing twister without a mat (just the spinner, finding things in the room that are the color that the spinner is pointing to). genny is wearing red pajamas.

nancy - "right hand red."
(genny squeals loudly)
susan - "uhh...you're not wearing a bra at all."

I was in the kitchen hip thrusting to myself this afternoon and when I stopped I looked out the kitchen window to see my landlord and one of the guys next door talking and the guy was looking right at me and laughing. Virb suggested I post my story, so there it is.

Gauntlet'D!

Who doesn't love 'em? For serious. We all know Susan does.

My general pattern for gauntlets:

Use dpns in the suggested size for the yarn you'll be using (Make it machine washable!)
CO as many stitches as will make a circle with an 8 inch diameter
Row 1: purl
Row 2: knit
Row 3: purl
Row 4: begin pattern (Remember that if you are putting a pattern that just covers one side of the gauntlets, like Virb's here, to move the thumb hole to create a left and right gauntlet.)
Continue in your pattern for 8-9 inches.
To make the thumb hole, just make a square at this point about an 1 inch cubed. Then continue in your pattern for another 2.5 inches.
Finish by doing one row purl, one knit, one purl, and then bind off.

This photo is of Virb's gauntlets. Virb got a pretty little pattern on the top of her gauntlets: purl 1, knit 2 basic figure-8 cable, purl 1, knit 4 basic figure-8 cable, purl 1, knit 2 basic figure-8 cable, purl 1, knit 4 basic figure-8 cable, purl 1, knit 20 (total 35 sts). The effect kind of reminds be of Shredder from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.

Conversation with Susan:

-"I had a brown spot on my face right here."
-"What was it?"
-"Probably shit."
-"That's what happens when I wipe my ass with my face."

Yay, Susan!
