livin' the life...livin' the dream

Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away...

Four girls set out to an ultimate tourney. For dinner, Waffle House. Alex and I both had hot chocolate. Cara had a strawberry waffle that looked like desert. We got a free waffle. Then nothing exciting happened until the morning.

Car Kayla (aka Spencer) got into the Harrisonburg area at the same time Car Cara was heading to the fields. In fact, as we drove past a white car on the side of the road, I'm pretty sure every girl in my car asked me if that was Kayla's car, but I quickly reassured them Kayla did not drive a white car. In case you were wondering, Kayla's car is white. Apparently, Spencer got a flat seven miles from the fields. They were able to put a donut on before Molly ate it and got to the fields with time to spare.

Game 1: Pitt v Richmond
Started out strong. Then all hell broke out. My girl started cutting deep as Virb's started cutting in. Not looking where she was going, my girl crashed directly into Virb just as Virb was turning to run in with her girl. Now, I don't know much about physics, but I'm pretty sure two objects can never occupy the same space. Therefore, Virb busted her lip hitting her teeth against the other girl's forehead (Way to be tall, Virb). Virb needed to go to the hospital and get some stitches. The other girl got a nasty bump on her head. The whole proccess of figuring out what happened and making sure they would both live took a good half an hour. When we started playing again, Kayla and Molly were our handlers and it took us a while to get back into it. We lost on universe point with the hard cap on 8-7 them.

Game 2: Pitt v William & Mary
We took a hit when Virb left, but I think we proved that we dont need her and her hoity-toity handling skilz. Handlers this game included, but were not limited to, Kayla, Molly, Genny, and Alex. Highlights of the game included Cara's unpredicted amazingness at ultimate (um, can we say catching her D's and throwing up the line?) and Amelia's unforseen ability as a deep. We lost in the hard cap 12-10 them, but not before we took half.

Game 3: Pitt v Salisbury
So we were playing 6es (Thank goodness all the other teams were still willing to play with us!) and we were pretty tired by this point. We started off this game slow. Main handlers were Kayla and Alex (who btdub is an awesome handler). Salisbury was in all-black, and I thought that was intimidating, but once we got into it we managed to take half! Eventually, we did loose 10-7 in the hard cap.

Game 4: Bye
We dropped Spencer off at Walmart to get it's tires replaced. Also a highlight of the bye: JMU had food stuffs out for making pb&js.

Game 5: Pitt v Bucknell
I wont lie, we died, despite my pre-game picker-upper of Cadbury eggs all around (apparently, this was Cara's favorite part of the entire weekend). Bucknell had been playing savage all day as well, so we decided to play 6es, game to 11. Unlike all of our other games, this time Bucknell went zone on D. Our handlers: Kayla, Alex, and Genny. In-poppers: Cara and Amelia. Deep: Molly. The zone was unexpected and I think we made every score off a huck. Bucknell took half 6-2 so we had a dance party. After this, Bucknell continued to whip us until the score was 10-2 them. Well, there we were, walking back to the endzone, heads down, stomachs empty, bangbox off, when Molly lifts up her chin. Her eyes are bright, her demeanor cheerfull and she rallies us for one more go.
"To the endzone!" She shouts we should all run fast
And she'll pick up the disc and huck it past
"Whoever should catch it, why, they will score"
But wait! But wait! Look to Drunk Girl for more:
"If I should catch it, in the endzone someone should be
to catch a scoober, thrown by me!"
A hand went up and we began running down
The looks on their faces! Confusion and frowns!
It was precious to see the looks on their faces,
Stupefification marked their countenences in places.
Molly hucked it to Kayla, Kayla scoobered to Cara!
And a shout was shot with much fanfair-a!
Look at what happened, Bucknell gave a laugh.
With more plays like that, we could have taken half.
So with that play, our games were done.
11-3, it doesn't matter if we won!

(Side note, that was Cara's first score. We were all honored to bear witness to her first time.)

Saturday night:
As you know, the party was Firday night. We missed it b/c we didn't get in until 10:30PM, but we did get to go to Chili's. It was fetch.
